Well, I missed February's goal, and March is almost half way gone already.
I'm a bad music blogger. At least I have the lyrics and melody to a new song in my head. I just need to write the music!
In the meantime, here's Lady by the Lake. It's still not great, but it's likely the best I'm going to get without months of practice.
Lady by the Lake, dressed in blue and grey,
Why's you'r gown so old and worn?
Lady by the Lake, do you recall my name?
In your embrace I once was home.
Do you dream of the days when the music played
and the dancers gaily turned?
Now the music is gone, and your dress is torn.
Lady by the Lake, so forlorn.
Lady by the Lake, salt lies on your face,
Though the tears no longer flow.
Lady by the Lake, why do you haunt this place
Like a ghost upon the shore?
Do you dream of the days when the children played
on the banks outside your door?
Now the banks are bare, and they play no more.
Lady by the Lake, do you mourn?
Lady by the Lake, standing proud and still,
Are you frozen by the cold?
Lady by the Lake, we can't rest until
We know what the future holds.
Do you dream of the days when your children return
and the hearth fires once more burn?
Or have you turned away, have you closed your doors?
Lady, when can we come home?
Lady by the Lake, do you recall my name...
Elren performed this at the last Troubador Night, which was fun. The song is about the city of Lordearon, which was lost to the Alliance during the Scourge invasion and is now the home of the Forsaken. I imagine this is a song that would find resonance with the exiled humans of Lordaeron who long to return to their home.
