The things I do when I'm bored, updates on Elren

The Man with Three Fists
nf, Play.  Comedy.
Tollwight, Artuwick
cat. no. 37568.13

Published: Late Adamant Wrynn Period

Synopsis: Warfen, a traveling fighter and and gambling addict, is traveling to the "Market's Day" fair to enter a prizefight when his hand is injured by his companion Diggry.  He tricks a well-meaning, but dim-witted, man named Holgen to take his place while pretending to be Warfen.  Warfen bets on Holgen losing the match to earn money, but first must build up his reputation as a amazing fighter without letting anyone know he's a pushover.

So, anyway, was playing on Elren the other night.  She was hanging out in the tavern with a "cat" she'd met.  (A fellow player, and alt of one Derscha's newest guildmates, who was literally playing a cat.)    Nothing was going on, so I decided to do something a little silly.

I was getting tired of people coming in and leaving before I could react,  so I just started RP'ing a play Elren was reading.  That way, anytime someone walked in, they could see we were active.   It was a fun - I only had the plot line above to work with -  so I was inventing all the dialogue on the spot. On the plus side, any "mistakes" I made I could attribute to Elren's need for practice.

I might do something like that again if I'm bored.  Maybe outside next time.

Elren finally quit her guild, too.  Just like with Ketlan, I sent a letter to the GM- who actually responded and said I'd be welcome back anytime, which was nice.  So Elren's going to run guildless for a while.

I'm still tempted to make my own vanity guild.  Elren doubles as my banker, so I could use the storage space.  And I like the background I have for her, although that doesn't necessarily bar her from joining a guild.

Elren works for a company called the "Azeroth Heritage Society."  She's a clerk and researcher, who does a lot the grunt work.  She likes the job because she has an interest in art and music, and gets to see pieces of Azeroth's history up close.

It claims it's dedicated to preserving and promoting art and culture.  It runs a gallery in Stormwind, where other art lovers can admire and purchase items.  The gallery sales fund more charitable projects: rebuilding efforts, restoring old manuscripts and art, and promoting local artists.

The Society buys from various suppliers across the world... and never inquiries too closely about where the suppliers get their supplies.   Why should good art go to waste?

So far, I've had Elren running around graveyards, mostly because it's funny.  But real historical groups do survey graveyards to document families, lifespans, and other information you can glean from a tombstone and epitaph.   She also spends time tracking down documents and lost papers, since I'm sure the orcs weren't very careful about keeping Stormwind's library intact back in the day.

In any case, she's come a long way from "the paladin of little character."
