Back in the Game? One Year Later

...err, out of the game?

Yes.  I have been spending far too much time in game lately.  I admit I have been having lots of fun, and with the expansion around the corner, I've had things to get done before it all changes!

Ketlan maxed out her proffessions and finally snagged Loremaster.  Derscha is 85, Kezrin is climbing.

At lot has changed on the RP front, at least for Ketlan. She's no longer a member of the First Stormwind Regiment.  It was a very fun guild, for the while it lasted, but the GL, Narnicka, was frustrated trying to keep up with recruitment and other things, and I admit, I wasn't about to step up and run TWO guilds.

The IC reason for the guild being dissolved was the failure of the unit to achieve its goals; we were involved in a couple of story lines.  Ketlan in particular was responsible for signing a probation release for a criminal under FSR's watch, who subsequently disappeared, so I used that as her excuse for why she was in particular put on "reserve" and dismissed from service.  I didn't want to completely rule out the possibility of her taking active service with the military again, since it's a potential plotline I could use later.

However, she rather quickly found a new home.  While working with the FSR, she met Kordrion of <Terra Incognita> and the two developed a romance.  You may remember Kordrion from the AAMS chicken deliveries, my fictional readers who don't actually RP with me.  Terra Incognita is a "secret order" of special ops that is aligned with the Argent Crusade and the Church of Light, and their leader happened to be Lahkin Stoneheardt, Narnicka's IC son.   Kordrion invited Ketlan to live with him, and a short while later, they got married.  Ketlan isn't a sworn-in member of the order, but is acting as the group's healer.

On the AAMS front, the largest change has been the decision to move the HQ from Caer Darrow to Booty Bay.  A lot of my guildies are happy for the move, as it's easier to reach and makes more sense from both and IC and OOC perspective.  Most of our guild business happens in Booty Bay because of the neurtral action house there, and we no longer have to explain why we put up with a haunted school of necromancy in our back yard.   The one downside is that we no longer have a nice large courtyard for RP events, but I'm moving a little away from that sort of theme.

I haven't been doing a good job of it yet, but my goal is to give the AAMS plot lines.  When we did the move to Booty Bay, it involved an actual plotline about an evil spirit harassing the company.  (It wasn't the best plot, but it's the first major one I've run.  I learned an awful lot.)   I've been racking my brain for other plots we can do, but it's very hard to find conflict for a courier company.  I've been thinking I should watch more Futurama.

While having weekly cross-faction events was fun for the community, I kept finding constant references to the phrase "Thursday job."  It was in reference to how people would log into the AAMS characters for the Thursday event, and spend their entire time translating and being on-duty.  It wasn't a social event for the AAMS, it was a couple of hours spent copy-pasting.

We've started a Horde-only Lounge night which is proving successful.  It's letting the AAMS stay visible and meet with RPers while not having to "work."  It would be nice to do the same thing on Alliance, only there's not really space in the Alliance calendar without competing with another guild (particularly Pia Presidium.)  Eventually, as RP picks up for the expansion, I think we will see competing events.

In the meantime, I want more guild-focused events.  I don't have to worry about competing with other open events if I make it clear it's a guild event.  I have a couple of ideas for what we can do, but after the mistakes I made last time, I'm a little hesistant.  Plus, we're now in the final month before MoP, so anything I do has to be quick and short, or able to survive people running off to Pandaria.

On a side note, I'm really loving Patch 5.0.4!

The community has really taken to the CenarionCircle.org, and I've been doing some character blogging over there related to Ketlan and Kezrin's activities.  I ought to be mirroring those here.  I should start one for Derscha, too, but I don't know what about her I'd like to share.

And finally, in real life, I finally bought my new computer and it is awesome.  WoW runs great on it, but I have to remember my actual reason for buying it was to run my music software!  It was difficult editing music on my old computer.  I have even moved my keyboard set-up to the room where my husband and I spend time together; I'm not sure how that will work out.  I write music the best when I'm not distracted, and having a TV in the background is a major distraction, particularly since he prefers crime dramas and things with guns and cops and explosions. And I can't sing in the new room, not that I've been keeping up with my vocal excercises, anyway.

And that is the general summary of what I've been up to.  I may write more specifics later, but I think this chunk of text is good enough for now.

Oh, and one last thing- yesterday marked exactly one year since Derscha hit level 10.  That means it's been a year since I moved to Cenarion Circle from Sisters of Elune. Happy birthday, Derscha! (And a belated one to Elren.....)
