Danire (#8528)
You see a fairly tall young man, his eyes are pitch black much like the dark
hair which falls down past his shoulders, it is tied back at the shoulders. His
skin seems pale compared to some people. He stands at his full height of about
18 hands. He is fairly strong, and very kind.
He has put his summer clothes away and is now wearing a dark red pair of pants,
a longsleaved white shirt, and a pair black boots.
Danire is wearing the bright-red and white knot of StarCraft.
He is awake and looks alert.

It seems very appropriate today is Valentine's day for this topic.
What was very unique about Lynyl, something I've never done on any other character, was that Lynyl actually had a love life!
Remember, time passed four times as fast in the game. So even though I started off with a sixteen year old girl, she was in her twenties when I quit playing a few years later.
Her first love was Danire, a fellow Starcraft Apprentice. Apprentices were strictly forbidden from having relationships, so they kept it a secret…. a secret every other apprentice shared, naturally!
Lynyl didn't really get it at first when Danire started staring at her, because I certainly didn't. It took someone giving me an OOC kick. I hadn't even considered having an IC romance. How would you even do that?
It wasn't really that hard. We RP'd sweet things like holding hands, and just being together. The important thing was to always remember the difference between IC and OOC; it turned out to be important, as the relationship didn't last. For Lynyl, the loss was devastating, but for me, it was just a sad end to a storyline I liked and a farewell to a friend.
Unfortunately, I only have two logs saved from those days, but they're important ones to Lynyl's life.

Unfortunately, I only have two logs saved from those days, but they're important ones to Lynyl's life.
One log is of a stargazing session, where Lynyl is practicing her charting. It was a fun, spur-of-the-moment plan we threw together. She shares a telescope with Danire, who points out that she's misidentified a star that is actually a double star. And then… he whispered that he loved her. D'aww!
The other log is a sad one. Danire's player was unable to log on anymore, and rather than have him slowly fade away, we decided on a storyline where he was temporarily leaving the craft due to family trouble. The log is their tearful farewell, where he gives Lynyl a ring to remember him by. Lynyl wore that ring the rest of her time on HT.
Some time later:
Lynyl smiles in pleasure at Aein, then quickly double-checks the 'viewer for
her. "If you'll look just through there, Aein," she says, "you'll see what we
call a double-star."
Aein nods slowly, standing on her toes and peering just where Lynyl told her
too.. A little gasp escapes, "Uh!" She backs away, "Everything was so big.. And
and the star looked very pwetty" The words rushing out all at once.
Lynyl points out the star in the sky for Aein. "It looks so different without
the 'viewer, doesn't it?" she asks. There's an odd catch to her voice.
Aein nods in agreement, gazing from the sky to the 'viewer and back.. Craning
her neck, "Oh yes, very much so!"
[jproj] Lynyl: You wanna know why I picked that double star?
[jproj] Lyana: Why?
[jproj] Lynyl: The first time I saw it was with Danire :)

Funny side story: every object in HT had an object number unique to itself. If something was deleted, the object number was eventually recycled on a new object created to save database space. Lynyl's object number was #8813. Danire was #8528.
After Danire deleted his character, his number went back into the queue to be reused. Two months later, I decided on a whim to see what happened to it.
My brother in real life was playing the game at the time, having joined recently, and played as Lynyl's IC brother.
#8528 was his pet dog.
#8528 was his pet dog.
Lynyl's first boyfriend had reincarnated as her brother's dog.

Next time, I'll talk about love number 2!
